Hello Everyone! Did you see the rainbow on Sunday evening? I know they happen all the time, but I still get a special feeling when I see one. Of course if you weren't standing outside or looking out the window when it started to rain, you probably missed the whole thing. It was such a gentle easy rain and the sun never even dimmed. It didn't last long, but it was welcome just the same.

Did any of you see Lance Corporal B.K. Farley while he was in town last weekend? Yes he has been promoted and he flew into Memphis Thursday to spend a couple of days before he drove off to take his car with him to Twenty-nine Palms, CA. He let Barbie know he had made it back safely. He will be there until March when his company is scheduled to deploy to Iraq.

Ms. Cleta Simmons visited with her daughter, Rosie and son-in-law, Tommy on the 4th of July. Her grandson Bradley came up from Natchez, MS with his wife Sarah and daughter Annabelle. They had a really good visit.

Rob and Cathy Louder had a 4th of July fish fry and there was a crowd! Steve and Jamie Simmons, the Trails, KK Manchester, the Linams all enjoyed the delicious food and great company. Of course Keit and Heidi Cohn and their family were there as were Seth and Misty Cohn. Pastor Velda Bell and her daughter Susie joined the crowd as did Jessie Malin, Paula Benton and me. Thanks, Rob, Cathy and Meagan.

Take a look at the new planters at the old jail house. Aren't they lovely? And by the way, I haven't commented on the efforts of the Garden Club lately. I never go down town or pass the Memorial Park that I don't think of them however. Thank you, garden clubbers for keeping our town so colorful. Please keep up the good work.

And, Doug, as in Stone, I keep getting messages for you since your name was in the porch swing column. This week it's from April Lindsey. Didn't you promise to send her some new pictures of the children? Well?

Oh, I believe I saw Nancy Kemp driving around town with her granddaughter Claire this week end. I think she and Ron sort of like being grandparents.

By the way, the First Baptist Church is having a woman's forum this weekend. The subject is "The Christian Woman's Response to Stress" and Donna Seal from Piggott is the speaker. It is open to all women. Friday evening 7:00 -- 9:00 and Saturday morning 9:00 -- 2:00. $15.00 gets you some great coping tools, a workbook and lunch on Saturday. 'Girl food' will be served by Laura Mooneyhan. Come join the fun!

There are still tickets for the Gaither Artist Concert to be held on the 25th. You can get yours at 'Now and Then' on Front Street or at Glenn Sain's on Highway 49. Hurry up now. You don't want to miss this.

I want to say "Hi!" to Jane Fennell. We miss you.

I guess that's all for this week. Let me know what's going on so I can share it with the world. If you are new in town, give me the heads up.

My phone number is 595-3173 or you can drop me a note at 514 West 3rd St. My email address is porchswing@newwavecomm.net.
